Join forces for the Walled Garden!

Join us or for an Open-Air Lab near London on september 22-28th!
We invite all Clear-Village friends, members, experts and partners to participate in its first open-air lab near Romford (Essex, UK) to kickstart the restoration of an old neglected walled kitchen garden in a north east London village.

Clear-Village is there to support a community food growing project and stage actions and design advice to make the most out the place which is in a beautiful park with views of the City but surrounded by a few deprived neighbourhoods that could use an environment to get together in new ways.

Beyond the participation of local partners such as the Borough and Friends of Bedfords Park, this is a collaboration between Clear Village founder, Thomas Ermacora, and local Grammy award winner Imogen Heap who will be writing a song in part to promote the efforts of bringing the walled garden back to life imogenheap.com.

The lab will be held from the 22nd to the 27th of September. For participants who are not local, rooms are available at Gidea Park hotel close to the site at £55 per night (£65 if 2 in a room), including breakfast and transport to and from the garden (a 10 minute drive). The weekend will have presentations and an open day but we’d love you to get your hands dirty with us for the whole stretch and accomplish various tasks to clear, grow and build things that will support the incremental restoration. We’ll be there with members from the local community and Imogen’s fans doing some bricklaying, planting, as well as creating artwork from the debris of the clearing to be positioned around the park to raise local awareness about the on-going project.

A programme will be up soon but the most important thing is that you want to be a part of London’s most exciting community restoration project that touches sustainability, heritage, food systems, future technologies and local social enterprise.

You can either come for the whole or a part of the period but please register quickly as places are filling up by emailing to garden@clear-village.org. You can also donate to the project, everything from money to gardening gloves.

A little bonus for those that get involved in full will be to come on the 8th of October to Imogen’s song release and Thomas’ birthday party both to help fundraise for the Walled Garden Project.

Looking forward to your support!
