Human Cities: Challenging the City Scale book launch
We are delighted to announce that the final book of the Human Cities project- “Challenging the City Scale: Journeys in People-Centred Design”– has been completed, published and launched. On 13th September, we celebrated the joint accomplishment with our Human Cities partners during our final project meeting in Tallinn
The book, like the project that spawned it, has been a truly collaborative effort. Cité du design Saint-Etienne and Clear Village served as editors in chief; the other project partners created a huge amount of content; our journalists Côme Bastin and Fleur Weinberg roamed across Europe in search of stories; and guest authors John Thackara, Anya Sirota and Alice Holmberg contributed essays. We hope (and think) that the final product provides an excellent overview of the Human Cities project and all the work that’s been done in the last few years, from Helsinki to Bilbao and from Belgrade to Brussels. To mangle the famous Napoleon quote as he stood by the pyramids: from the pages of this book, four years of work look up at us.
“Challenging the City Scale: Journeys in People-Centred Design” is published by Birkhäuser and available as a pdf and as hard copy. The Human Cities project has been co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Commission.
