This Saturday we were catching the last beams of sunshine as Small Works Hackney presented the research and community feedback on Marlborough Square. Over afternoon tea, residents from Regent Estate gathered to discuss their ideas for the space, be it activities, structural changes or decoration. Some of the children took matters (and chalk) into their own hands and decorated the walls with their creative designs!
The Marlborough Square project is supported by Near Neighbours and Hackney Homes and is an effort to regenerate the communal space around Small Works Hackney aka Workshop 44, based on the input of local residents. Over the last couple of months, Clear Village design analysts have been engaging about 100 members of the community face-to-face interviews, community gatherings like The Big Lunch, and workshops at the local school and with the over-55’s group.
We’re looking forward to continuing the process and turning collaborative ideas into collaborative action!
