We are accepting applications for residencies starting early 2017
You can join us from January as a six month professional resident. Residencies are intended for professionals who would use Machines Room as their main place of work and are here full time. The six month residency is primarily for prototyping and taking your project to the next level. It is not suitable for projects already in a manufacturing phase as we do not have the storage for stock.
We are open from applications from two types of resident. Workshop & Desk. The fee is £150 per month. Residents get 24/7 access and are a key part of the Machines Room community. Workshop residents get priority access to the wood workshop and some storage for personal tools. Desk based residents have access to a private lockable desk in the residency space.
From February there is the opportunity to join as the Maker Library Resident. This is a one month residency there is no charge for this but you are also expected to be full time, the most successful applicants apply for additional funding. The Maker Library network is a project founded by the British Council.
All residents are expected to contribute to the Machines Room community by sharing their practice. This is with a resource, a workshop, an exhibition or talk.
Applications from projects that have positive impact (social, environmental etc.) and those that put new mediums to good use such as VR/AR and bio hacking/bio materials are prioritised.
